Emergency

What should I do in case of an accident?

First and foremost, you should stay calm.

To avoid other accidents, you should warn other drivers by turning on hazard lights and placing flares and/or warning triangles and ensure road safety.

You should take photos of the accident scene and the damages from different angles so that insurance companies can evaluate the accident properly.

In cases when a report must be kept, you must call 155 for the Police or 156 for the Gendarmerie, whichever is in authority according to the place where the accident happened and how it took place, and a have a record kept, and inform Intercity.

You can contact our after-sales service representatives via telephone, mail or live support, using the details in the contact section.

If there is any other vehicle(s) involved in the accident, photocopies of motor-vehicle registration forms, current motor third party liability insurance policies of such vehicle(s), and driving licenses of their drivers should be attached to the report kept by the Police or Gendarmerie.

In each case, the implementation principles of the traffic code must be complied with.

Bilateral Accidents

In case of bilateral accidents (where two or more vehicles are involved), a driver's accident report form should be prepared, and documents of the other vehicle(s) (current motor third party liability insurance policy, motor-vehicle registration form, and driving licence photocopies) should be attached. It is compulsory that all the information sought in the report are filled and the form is affixed with wet-ink signatures. In all accidents, it is essential that the documents of all vehicles involved in the accident should be taken, whether they have suffered damages or not.

Unilateral Accidents

In case of unilateral accidents (hits, parking lot hits, glass breakage, etc.), you should call either 155 for the Police or 156 for the Gendarmerie, whichever is in authority, without moving the vehicle. You should apply to Intercity with the accident reports, statements, incident scene investigation report, alcohol reports, and driving license photocopy.

Information about the Accident Report Form

You can avoid potential problems likely to arise in case of an accident if you have an accident report form as well as photocopies of the motor-vehicle registration form, driving license and motor third party liability insurance policies on the vehicle.

An accident report form shall be valid only when the parties to an accident involving two or more vehicles and resulting in material damage have reached a settlement as to occurrence of the accident and have supplied the complete set of documents and signed the form. More than one report form can be used in multiple accidents. Each report form must be signed by all vehicle drivers.

Failure to fill in the post-accident report form completely or failure of a party to sign the form will invalidate the form.

The report forms prepared by the parties after the accident as well as the photocopies of the registration forms, driving licenses and motor third party liability insurance policies must be exchanged with the other driver. After the accident, photographs must be taken from different angles before moving the vehicles.

After an accident that involves two or more vehicles, the following documents must be submitted to our company the same day or the next day at the latest.

The original copies of the accident report form(s) (must be complete and contain wet-ink signatures.)
A photocopy of the motor-vehicle registration form
A photocopy of the driving license
A photocopy of the motor-vehicle registration form of the other vehicle
A photocopy of the driving license of the other driver
A photocopy of the motor third party liability insurance policy of the other vehicle
Photographs of the accident

If the parties to the accident reach a settlement on filling out a driver's accident report form, it will not be necessary to call the police to the accident scene, provided that the report form and other documents are complete.

Rather than agreeing on every detail of the accident, particularly the percentage of fault, it is important that the people involved in the accident reach a settlement as to determining the accident with a driver's report form and describe the accident clearly in the report form. The report forms and other documents prepared by the parties after the accident must be delivered to Intercity no later than 1 day after the accident so that they are processed in a properly and timely fashion. Documents that have not been delivered to Intercity in 5 business days after the date of the accident will be deemed void, and in cases where the issued documents are considered invalid, the relevant amounts will be invoiced to the lessee.

Conditions in which a Driver's Accident Report Form will not be Valid

The report form issued by the parties will not be deemed valid if:

The report form does not contain the signatures of the drivers involved in the accident
The signature(s) on the report form is (are) false
The information contained in the accident report form is incomplete or incorrect
The damage is refused by the insurance company; An accident report form has been issued, but such an accident has not occurred, and the damage is false
Any of the documents of the other vehicle have not been attached to the accident report form
The documents are not delivered within 5 business days

Conditions in which the Police must be Called

Under the following circumstances, it is necessary to call 155 for the police, or 156 for the gendarmerie if the accident scene is within the jurisdiction of the gendarmerie, and have a report kept.

The driver does not have a valid driver's license or the driver's license class is not suitable for the vehicle involved in the accident

The driver does not meet the age criteria
The driver is suspected of being intoxicated or legally insane
One or more of the vehicles involved in the accident belong to public bodies
Public properties suffer from damage
Only personal property of a 3rd party is damaged
One or more of the vehicles involved in the accident do not have motor third party liability insurance
The traffic accident has resulted in death and/or injury
The parties have not reached a settlement
Unilateral accidents (hitting a wall, overturning on a road shoulder, rollover, parking lot hits, etc.)

In an accident when the law enforcement officers are called, you should take photos of the accident scene and the damages from different angles and try to give the best visual description so that insurance companies can evaluate the accident properly.
